Czech Sings Carols 2025 – 10.12. at 6pm. Let’s sing into the Christmas spirit together!

Every December, something special happens all over the Czech Republic: On the same day, at the same time, everyone starts singing the same carols. Here In La Cala de Mijas on Costa del Sol, our little Czech community joins in and sings the carols we know by heart, songs that bring back memories of snow, family, and home. But as many of you know, this has grown into much more than just a Czech tradition.

When we first organized Česko zpívá koledy here in La Cala de Mijas, we honestly didn’t expect such an incredible turnout. We thought maybe a few families, a few friends… but the reality was beyond anything we could have imagined. People came not only from the Czech Republic and Slovakia but also from all corners of the world, British, Spanish, Polish, Dutch, and even Scandinavian neighbors stopped by, drawn by the sound of carols and the smell of mulled wine in the air.

What started as a small get-together quickly turned into a evening full of laughter, music, and heart. There was plenty of traditional food, delicious Christmas sweets, and of course, lots of hot mulled wine to keep us warm. Before we knew it, we were singing in every language imaginable - Czech, Spanish, English, even a few verses in German and French. And that moment, when everyone joined in together, smiling and singing under the Christmas lights of La Cala, made us all incredibly proud.

It reminded us that Christmas isn’t about where we come from, it’s about coming together.

So this year, on December 10th from 16:00 to 22:00, we’ll be back again, in front of the Ayuntamiento de Mijas, in La Cala de Mijas, with mulled wine, Czech Christmas treats, and open hearts ready to sing. The main carol singing will start at 18:00, just as thousands of people will begin singing across the Czech Republic at the same time.

💛 Each year, our event also carries a beautiful charitable spirit. Together we collect donations for a local orphanage in Málaga, which helps bring Christmas joy to children without families. Thanks to everyone’s generosity, we’re able to buy presents so that every single child receives their own Christmas gift, and for us, that’s the most meaningful part of the whole evening.

Come and join us, bring your friends, your family, your neighbors. Whether you know the Czech lyrics or not doesn’t matter, the spirit of Christmas is universal, and we promise you’ll leave with a smile (and probably a cup of mulled wine in your hand!).
